One new case of BTV-3 was confirmed in England on 10 July 2026 following reports of suspicious clinical signs: • One ewe Staffordshire presented with head swelling, drooling, crusty nostrils and lameness on all four feet. Given the clinical signs and laboratory results this case represents the first confirmed case of infection this summer.

This survey investigates everyday dog care, flock management, and awareness of hydatid disease on sheep farms in Wales and the bordering counties. Gastrointestinal nematode worms (GINs), including the blood-feeding Haemonchus contortus, significantly affect the health of UK grazing animals, such as sheep and camelids. Unlike other GINs, H. contortus causes anaemia and weakness rather than diarrhoea and historically affects warmer UK regions. With changing climates, its prevalence is increasing across the UK.
