The Bluetongue heatmap shows confirmed cases of BTV3 (red markers) but also represents the bluetongue activity based on the density of the blue colour.
There have been 1,116 cases across the UK to date in the 26/27 season, with many more suspect cases awaiting lab confirmation. Changes in case reporting in England from Sept 11th mean that private vets can now report suspected cases online, based on clinical signs and presentation, without the need for sampling in every case. Wales and Scotland’s case investigation protocol remain unchanged.
#BTV remains a notifiable disease across all of the UK and all suspect cases need to be reported. See here for clinical signs:

It is not too late to vaccinate ahead of the predicted surge in Autumn cases, and to protect stock and fertility for next year.
