What is NADIS?

OnLine

NADIS was formed over 10 years ago to monitor diseases in cattle, sheep and pigs. It currently consists of 54 sentinel practices and the 6 UK Veterinary Colleges. The network shows the important role sentinel practices should play in any UK surveillance system.

All Reporting Vets

It has always been NADIS’ aim to make its data more regionally representative. To this end over 100 sentinel practices have expressed an interest in joining the network and all data will be presented on a denominator basis. This will provide information across the whole spectrum of endemic diseases of interest to farmers and vets, on a regional basis.
Updates will be available weekly. Along with other disease surveillance systems NADIS could provide data to help highlight the presence of any new emerging disease that might threaten British livestock in the future. It is widely recognised that the most important factor in reducing the size of a disease outbreak is its early detection.
